Updates, Clarifications, and Corrections

Updates to stories are a normal part of journalism. As information changes, more is released or available, or as stories change, updates ensure the reader is informed of the latest development on a story. Updates may or may not be noted at the bottom of a story.

Clarifications may be issued by the News Director if the story changes drastically, or if the information may be accurate but lacking context or backstory. If a clarification is issued it should normally appear atop the story.

Corrections are when our Journalists or Editors or the News Director has made an error. When we make an error we shall publish an explanatory note which shall clearly include; what error was made, a correction to that error, an apology to anyone affected by the error (if applicable), and the News Director should offer the reader an explanation of what will be done to prevent any similar error from happening again, if possible.
