JS&IP Section 15

Role, Rights, and Responsibilities of a Journalist

Journalists play a pivotal role in ensuring matters of public interest are published for the public to digest. The role of our Journalists is to fairly and accurately report on what they witness, provide important insight and perspective, and to press Sources to provide quotes and information on the record and verify that which is provided.

Our Journalists, Editors, and News Director and Opinion Writers shall always adhere to both the text and spirit of our JS&IP. Whether in the capacity of a representative of Kamloops 24 Hour News Department or as an individual, our team shall not engage in any behavior or association that may bring them or the organization into disrepute.

Our Journalists exercise rights granted by The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, at Section 2.(b).

Our Journalists have a responsibility to report the news, and a responsibility to follow the law.
