Independence

Independence is what allows us to fearlessly tell our stories. 

We take great steps to avoid the appearance of partiality. We are not a member of any trade group, lobby group, political party faction, special interest, or business interest other than our own. All our News and Opinion content is published by the News Director, without fear, pressure or persuasion. 

Our Journalists, Editors, News Director and Opinion Writers do not apply for, or accept nominations for or awards from anyone or any entity for their work in our publications. While we appreciate recognition, we respectfully decline all nominations and awards to maintain our independence. Our award is building and maintaining trust with our audience and community.

Journalists serve the public interest pursuing stories for the public good. Journalists are at all times independent. We take great care in avoiding any and all conflicts of interest, and clearly disclose them if they are unavoidable.
