Pizza Pops Recall

Pillsbury Pizza Pops are facing a major recall in Canada. The popular snacks that were invented in Winnipeg have been linked to an outbreak of E. coli 026:H11.

The Canadian Food Inspection agency first issued a recall on December 21, 2025, but have now expanded the recall to many more of the snacks.

The CFIA advises not to consume, serve, use, sell or distribute any of the recalled Pizza Pops products, and if you have any throw them out or return them to the location where they were purchased.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, twenty nine people have fallen ill, and seven have been hospitalized in Canada. The notice only includes laboratory confirmed cases. PHAC admits the actual number of people who have gotten sick is likely much higher. 

The CFIA claims they are conducting a food safety investigation which may lead to the recall of other products. Additionally they claim that they are “verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.”

The CFIA says food contaminated with E. coli 026 may not look or smell bad but is still dangerous nonetheless. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and watery to bloody diarrhea. In severe cases some people may have seizures or strokes, need blood transfusions, live with permanent kidney damage, or possibly even die.
